                                  Late Woodland
                                 (ca.600  to 1650 A.D.)

During the Late Woodland period, a number of new cultural characteristics arise, the bow and arrow, commissary knives, triangular points, hoes.  Agriculture first appears with maze,  and squash, beans, being the major foodstuffs being cultivated .  Late Woodland sites are generally smaller and more dispersed.  Ceramics vesslis from this time period are thinner and cord marked.Diagnostic point type of Late Woodland are Madisons, Jack's Reefm Corner-notched, Racoon Side- notched, nodena.
